Inspiration for film festival
Hi all,
Check this film clip out. I was talking to Joe about this in a comment on his personal blog but thought it could benefit us all.
This short film maker is Leo Zuckerman, his short films and ads really inspire me with my own film making.
This one in particular shares such an amazing feeling about the subject. I watch this and actually feel like jumping online and booking a ticket to Canada. Maybe I'm his target audience, whatever, it works for me.
Does your film sell the idea of your dream school of the future? Will people be inspired to visit or be there? Notice how Leo Zuckerman doesn't use dialogue but images, music and a small amount of clever text to get his idea across and it's POWERFUL.
It's worth a watch...

Good luck!

Film Festival Inspiration - My entry from 2014
Hello everyone,
Here is my Bastow Film Festival video entry from last
year. Hopefully you can use this for
some inspiration for your own film. When
my Principal and I did this together we tried not to be to literal with our
project and attempted to convey a feeling rather than listing or documenting
the details from the brief. We asked
ourselves, what to we want our viewers feel about our vision? What music or images my help us match that?
Lets be honest.. . one minute is not much time, especially when you try to
include some written words or any speech at all! So try to think about it like you are making
an ad for TV. Top tip, you don't need to
flash an image on the screen for long (a couple of seconds will do) for your
audience to know what is going on. Don't
give us a tour of your current school.
Go BIG, this is an ideal school without boundaries or budget constraints
(If I had my time again I'd be far more ambitious than I was here) Having this kind of "moonshot
thinking" is what got some of our worlds best innovators, scientist and
global leaders the ideas that prompted CHANGE.
Have fun with it too! This could
be a powerful tool for you when you head back to school to present you findings
to your staff.
Good luck to you all,
Here is our entry.

Welcome to the Course
Welcome to the first week of the course.
Our official online discussions do not begin until week two,
but I encourage you to take this opportunity to say at least "Hi" in
the comment section below. If you're
feeling really brave, introduce yourself, let our group know about your role in
your school, what you're hoping to get out of the course and anything else you
would like to share.
This space is where some really great discussion about
education will occur. There will be
weekly prompts like video clips, quotes, readings and questions to help us
along. Like any conversation about an
interesting topic, the more perspectives we hear the more valuable the
conversation will be for all. So don't
hold back, let us know what you're thinking.
Try share your thoughts, connect to other peoples ideas and pose
questions.
I'm looking forward to working with you all for the next 15
weeks.
Matt
